The second half of my spooky reading list is for grownups who love a good scare. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic or branching out of your comfort zone, take a look at some of these creepy October reads!
There’s an argument between readers and non-readers alike over whether listening to an audiobook qualifies as reading. My opinion is that though listening does not involve the physical act of looking at words, listening to a book involves the same mental interpretation and imagination as reading a book in your hands. So, yes, I consider audiobook listening to be real reading.
Despite this opinion, I never listened to an audiobook until now. I enjoy the visual aspect of reading, so I never considered doing otherwise. So I took the advice of my manager and tried a new adult fiction novel which was totally outside my Young Adult Fiction comfort zone. She said it had dragons in it… and let’s face it who can resist dragons? Not this girl!
The Chinese government has been keeping a big secret for the last 40 years. Now they are ready to roll out the red carpet and invite some big wigs to the unveiling of the world’s greatest zoo. These VIPs and journalists are assured that the zoo they will see will surpass all the other zoos in the world. This is China’s bid for supremacy over the United States – something to surpass Disneyland. Don’t be alarmed by the dragons they said – they cannot hurt you. Cue the sarcastic, “Yeah, right!”
