Who doesn’t love to talk about books? Gathering with friends, discussing our favorite characters, plot points, the good, and the bad. Yet who has the time? So busy in life, we can barely make it to our work, our home, the grocery store, etc. To quote the meme, no one has time for an in person book club.

So why not join our online book club?

Starting January 2018, join CPL as we launch our beta online book club on Goodreads! Each month, read a book from a different theme and discuss it with other book lovers. Get in on the action by voting for the book you want the group to read.

This program will also be a monthly challenge category for our 52 Book Pickup Challenge.

What’s that? 52 Book Pickup is a yearly challenge to read a book a week. 52 weeks. 52 books. Sign up for the 2018 year will begin mid-January. But you can still join our Goodread’s group today for weekly threads, book trivia, and fun discussions. This is also where you can find all our online book club announcements and also vote for January’s book club book.

January’s theme- Best of 2017. Vote now for which book you think we should read here. Voting ends December 14th.

Want a sneak peak? February’s theme will be Romance and March’s Historical Fiction.

What are you waiting for? Join us for our online book club and enjoy a year of great books and lively discussion!

If professional fangirl was a job, Joanna would be first in line to apply. As it's not, she can be found connecting people to information as a Librarian, talking about all things geeky and nerdy, and trying to make a dent in her "to read" pile.

  1. What a fun idea! I haven’t kept up as much the second half of this year with following the challenges for the 52 book pick-up, but I always enjoy reading the discussions. I’ve read well over my 52 books for this year, just not books that fit in the challenges. I definitely will be joining the online book club though. I’m so happy you chose Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology for January since it is already on my “to read” pile.

  2. Once again, I’ve been left behind. I was looking for info about a book club that actually brings people together. I could always go to the library in my pajamas.

    1. Sandy… our Online Book Club is just one of a number of book clubs CPL offers! If you are looking for a book club that meets in person, we have:

      * River Readers Book Club at Indian River Library on January 16th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
      * Novel Ladies Book Club at Russell Memorial the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

More book clubs are listed in our Loop publication!
