Graphic Novels

Okay, Okay. Everyone’s already read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyers or seen the movie.  Everyone who hasn’t read A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin is reading it now – and if they can, are watching the HBO TV series as well.

Both stories are fantasy epics – one set in ancient times and one in the present.  Both stories have action, drama, love, terror, betrayal, heroics, and an interesting cast of characters. I love these both in print  – and on film!

What makes Graphic Novels so neat is the artwork. For example: The cover of Twilight Book 1 looks like this:

Bella
Bella

The cover of Twilight Book 2 looks like this:

Edward
Edward

Now if you lay the books side by side you get this:

Bella and Edward

This is the iconic scene from the start of the book (and movie) where Bella and Edward are lying down together in a woodland meadow.  Pretty cool, huh?

The front cover of the graphic novel A Game of Thrones is rather bland.

The back of the cover is bit more interesting – featuring a good line drawing.

The “Real Art” is inside though!  I love it! If I could draw, this is just the way I imagine it to be!

I absolutely love graphic novels!
