Let’s have a Magic Book Battle

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
The Lost Years of Merlin by T. A. Barron

Artemis Fowl: Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius-and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn’t know what he’s taken on when he kidnaps a fairy.
The Lost Years of Merlin: Washed up on the shores of ancient Wales, the boy had no home, no memory and no name… he was determined to find all three. But what he doesn’t know is that he is destined to become the greatest wizard of all time–known to all as Merlin.
Artemis: Artemis is a boy genius who has been spending his time trying to keep his family from losing their fortune, while also looking for his father who disappeared of the coast of Russia a couple years ago. Artemis’s main source of income is through his theft and embezzlement schemes, which eventually leads to him discovering the magical fairy world.
Merlin: Merlin doesn’t remember anything. His so-called mother does remember everything but refuses to tell him the truth. This leads to him getting bullied. Which later on leads to him starting a fire were he ends up saving a boy from the fire and gets injured himself in the process. Afterwards he decides to try and find out about his past which leads to him being swept away to a world of magic.
Both boys face danger as they decide to dive into their worlds of magic. Both also have to bear the burden of putting the lives of those they care about in danger. Artemis ends up making unlikely allies some people you wouldn’t even suspect. Merlin finds out about his families past and the horrible things that have happened to the world where he ended up, and makes a vow to put things back to normal.
In the end both books are great books and I personally enjoyed both books. They end well with no terribly bad cliffhangers, and they both get more and more mesmerizing as you read more into the series.
Bottom line if you are looking for a good book worth reading with magic, either book will do.
