Gregor is a fairly ordinary boy. He’s the eldest child and pretty much keeps the family together while his mom is busy working and his dad is MIA. His youngest sister is a great explorer, despite the fact that she is still toddling around in diapers. When she falls through a grate into another world Gregor has no choice but to follow her to the Underland where he goes on a marvelously lethal adventure.
When I picked up this book, I thought it might be a good read for fans of The Hunger Games. Or maybe I just read it because Willy Wonka made me feel like I had to:
This isn’t a bad book… it is just a children’s book. Read it to your kid sister or kid brother but don’t expect it to have the epic appeal of The Hunger Games. I kind of wish I’d spent my time reading something else. This is going to be harsh, but I have to say it.
On the Win, Lose or Draw criteria scale this one is a LOSE. Bet you didn’t see that coming, did you???
