throne of glass

Let’s get my verdict of this book out-of-the-way first!  WINNER!

Ok, now a basic outline.

Celaena Sardothien, the best assassin in Adarlan, was condemned to a slow death in the salt mines a year ago.  But she has been offered a way out by Prince Dorian; she can participate in his father’s contest as the Prince’s challenger and win her freedom or stay and die in the mines.

The King’s contest is designed to find the greatest assassin who will serve as the King’s Champion for 3 years.  Of course she accepts and she must compete with 23 others for the title.

However, (there is always a catch) there is SOMETHING evil that is killing the competitors, one by one and Celaena is the only one who can stop it.

I thought this book was fantastic!  The author, employed additional plots into the main story to provide tension, dimensions to the characters, and teasers that lay a foundation for a series.

My only problem with the book is that now I have to wait and see IF there will be a second volume…
